OUR FOUNDER
THE ABLE CENTER WAS FOUNDED BY TISHAWNA D. PRITCHETT. HERE IS HER STORY OF HOW IT ALL STARTED:
Bits of the vision started to be revealed in as early as 2003 when Tishawna and her family moved to a new town, living in a new community, working a new job, excited about a fresh start! Tishawna and her husband Ron had two girls and a son and at that time the only connection they had in this area was Ron's oldest brother and his family. She says that "God has a purpose for our lives and everything happens for a reason." Later she found out why this was where God had them settle. Over the years Tishawna has felt singled out, left out, lonely, different, experienced blended family struggles, grieving deaths of loved ones, health scares, bad decisions, financial struggles, and questioning life itself. Building connections and finding the right fit was not easy. As time passed she would always ask herself "why does it have to be so hard?" the area seemed cliquish and hard to connect if you didn't already know someone or connected by a school, sorority, church, or other organization. Not knowing how to build the right connections or find necessary resources for her family, Tishawna felt empowered to write out the vision for a service that she felt had been so needed. |
One evening in 2012 while leaving bible study God spoke to Tishawna giving her the name of this organization that He had been feeding her details about for so long. Initially she thought this would be a part of her church and she would just serve on the ministry until God revealed that "every vision will not be birthed out of the church." A Beautiful Lady Exploration Center was her assignment and the beginning of something amazing. What He revealed to her is that many women are not open to the church for many reasons including past hurt and disappointment. She understood that this was the opportunity to bring awareness, support, resources, and help to those who need it. As an overcomer herself, saved and covered by the blood of Jesus who is her Lord, Tishawna is committed to sharing His love in all aspects of her life.
Working as a hairstylist and sharing some of what God is doing, it was confirmed that she wasn't alone. There are many women with the same concerns who really need the services that Tishawna has been writing about. Tishawna wants to help as many of these women as possible, those who need assistance but don't normally have the necessary resources, don't have the connections or know the right people, or due to her income level can't call social services or any other organization that typically serves in time of need. She wants to help women who are becoming better mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, neighbors, and friends to know their worth and how beautiful they are, to trust in God who does not make mistakes, and believe that she is ABLE to be everything God created her to be.
Connections through work, church, and family blessed ABLE with community assisting in organizational start up, day to day operations, serving as advisory council, being a part of research development, board development, and building our programs. The ABLE Center is a non profit organization with programs to help women on their journey of becoming. This organization is a Holy Spirit led assignment, Executive Board governed, and oversight by Ron and Tishawna Pritchett.
